The Les Vallaies gites are on the edge of the rural hamlet of Le Puy de Brette, 10 mins east of St Jean d'Angely off the D130. One hours drive east from Rochefort on the coast, One hour SE from La Rochelle in the Charente Maritime region of the Poitou Charente, France.

Car Hire

All the major car hire companies will supply hire cars at the local airports providing they are prebooked (these smaller airports don't have 24hr offices, if any office) Budget, Easy car, Argus, Hertz and Holiday Autos are well known companies but they all do deals at different times so try an independant comparison site such as www.travelsupermarket.com to get the best deal of the day.

Train

Eurostar will take you from London to Paris direct or indirectly to Bordeaux and Angouleme where you can hire a car or take the eurostar channel tunnel train to Calais. SNCF is the excellent French train system. Our nearest tgv stations are Angouleme, Poitiers or Surgeres. You can then get connections to St Jean d'Angely, however please remember a car is essential as our cottages are located in the countryside where there are no taxis or public transport. You will need to arrange car hire before arriving. Car Train Take your own car on the train with you.
