Ask as many questions as you can think of. We hope this site contains everything you need to make an
informed decision. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you feel there are any points we have left out, or
if there are any additional facilities you require. Please make sure you have read our
PARENT POINTS
A rural gite holiday in France won't suit all families. It is very important to us that all our guests enjoy their
time in our cottages, please therefore express any individual needs or concerns before you decide and
ask as many questions as possible to ensure our cottage s are right for you.

The Les Vallaies gites  and villa are designed for 1 family ie 2 adults plus children as they each have
just one master bedroom and one bathroom.(Baleine has a bathroom and shower room). Groups with
more than 2 adults should consider that our Baleine cottage at Les Vallaies or Peche cottage at La
grange du Moulin may be more suitable. Alternatively, Cassiopee and Cygne gites could be let together.
Are we close enough to the coast for you ? If you only want 1 or 2 trips to the coast then the hours journey from our
part of France is a pleasure, with lovely clear roads for the most part, even in summer. However, if you love the beach
and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the coast - we might be too far away for you.

Do you have 'wild life' phobias ? We really are in the countryside, during harvest time, mice have been known to
enter the cottages, very few of our guests see them and if you sweep up your crumbs before going to bed, they will
stay away but you have been warned !. Bats are regularly seen at dusk, as are owls which are excellent at keeping the
mice numbers lower ! There are Gliss Gliss, Stone martins and other nocturnal creatures that wander around the
outside of the gites and general area at dusk. Spiders often seek the cool shade of your cottage and are good at catching
flies (which no one likes !) Lizards are common. There is a local cockrel that calls each morning and mosquitoes come
out to suck your blood in the sultry evenings..

Do you want to be able to walk to bars, shops and restaurants ? If so we are not for you. The nearest restaurants,
supermarkets etc are in St Jean d'Angely 6 miles away. St Jean d'Angely is not a huge town either, go on a Monday and
it will appear like a ghost town. Even when all the shops are open it is still quiet by UK standards
Why do some guests book again and again ? Mostly for the reasons given above ! they want to escape the hustle of
the coastal resorts, they love the
real France rural surroundings of our  gites, enjoy bat watching and star gazing as
they
enjoy a bottle of wine with their neighbours. They enjoy exploring the small towns and villages and chatting to
locals and soaking up the
relaxed atmosphere of French country life. Lazy days by the pool watching the children
make
new friends and a stroll through the country lanes before lighting up the bbq for dinner.

ASK YOURSELF SOME QUESTIONS
Do you want a country cottage in France or a modern 'Florida' style villa ? The gites at  Les Vallaies are not modern
houses with, crystal glasses and trendy soft furnishings. We are not offering a luxury property, we are offering a
traditional gite, with a few extra home comforts like a dishwasher. They are fully equipped for the number of people
they can accomodate. There are exposed stone walls and beams, the floors are wooden floorboards or tiles not plush
carpets. We want our families to be able to relax and enjoy themselves. Please make sure you read all the information
provided concerning the cottage and property, we fully describe what each is equipped with. Please don't hesitate to ask
any questions - we will be honest.
