La Palmyre Zoo a perfect family day out from our gites near St Jean d'Angely

Another absolute must for families with children. This zoo is not just like any zoo, its won european zoo of the year many times and is a breeding animal park. Its very interactive. The anilmals are very well cared for, there are lots of babies and all the dates of birth are written outside their areas.

You can get really close to all the animals and can even get in with some of them, like the goats. Theres no empty pens and you can always see the animals, they arn't hidden away. Theres lots of shade but as with all the major attractions in the area it gets very busy - top tip, go early, get there for 9 am spend 3 or 4 hrs wandering around the well laid out park and then head off for lunch in La Palmyre itself when everyone else is queing to get in the zoo !
